Lord God, who created mountains with words, and moves those mountains with our faith,
We confess that our faith is small;
we haven’t moved ourselves, much less any mountains.
So we wonder if we even have the mustard seed in our hearts?
Be the sower of this faith seed in us,
then it will take root and remain,
and the stem will sprout and wrap itself around the largest of mountains,
and the smallest of hills.
Amen.
Great prayer – did you write this or is it from a book of prayer?
I used to write these on a weekly basis, and have recently started again (though I missed this past weekend). It was inspired by a book of prayers by Stanley Hauerwas called Prayers Plainly Spoken that I bought years ago.
If you did a search for “weakly prayer” on my site, I think you’d find about 12 of them. My original intention was to write most all of them, but to occasionally drop in a prayer I found elsewhere.
Peace to you and your family +
