Looking for Questions

Saw this marvelous excerpt from Rainer Maria Rilke after deciding on the new title for this blog:

I beg you…to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer…

Any questions?

  1. I had no idea when I pulled this quote from a plaque on the wall in our apartment that today is the birthday of Rainer Maria Rilke (born in Prague in 1875). Also, I heard Garrison Keillor read this exact quote on NPR today during Writer’s Almanac.

Apparently, I should be paying attention to these words.
